Forthcoming events
Sunday Worship on 21 September at Holy Cross
On 21 September at Holy Cross AK we will be welcoming Rev'd Lee Barnes from Bristol Diocese to our Informal Morning Worship. We meet café-style with coffee/tea and biscuits before we worship and explore together the theme and Bible passages for the day. Lee is Diocesan Adviser for Fresh Expressions of Church and Adviser for Curacy and is coming to hear about our AK "fresh expressions of church" eg Messy Church and Cream Teas. Lee was some years ago Interim Minister in Upper Thames so it will be lovely to welcome him back.
St Sampson's Harvest Sunday 21 September
Service at 11:30am followed by lunch – All welcome
Harvest time is upon us and this year donations of tins, toiletries and packet foods will be collected in aid of The Filling Station and The Food Bank. Tins for Filling Station need to have ring pulls. They’d also like toilet rolls. All monetary donations will be divided between these two and our global mission partners (E3 and Compassion UK).
Following the service there will be a shared lunch. Please add your name to the list on the welcome table in church if you’d like to come, and then indicate on the second sheet what you’d like to bring to share – or let Ruth know – contact details below. Soft drinks will be provided. Anything else please bring your own, as well your own plates, cutlery & glasses.
Volunteers
We also need some volunteers to help with setting up before the service and clearing up after lunch. Please let Ruth know if you can help.
Many thanks and looking forward to seeing you there.

Dig Deeper: Who is the Holy Spirit through the Bible?
Next session 24 September
We will “as it says on the tin” dig deeper into the Bible and learn together about the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Starting with Genesis and the Old Testament and moving on through the New Testament, we'll meet on four Wednesday afternoons 2pm to 3.15pm in St Sampson's lady chapel on Sept 10th and Sept 24th and will continue (at a venue to be arranged) on October 15th and 22nd. You are very welcome to come to all or any of the sessions. Informal and with lots of time to talk in small groups, it’ll be a chance to understand more of the nature of the Holy Spirit and to seek ways to grow our relationship with the 3rd person of the Trinity. If you’d like to know more, see Shirley (07980 548844 or revdshirleyd@gmail.com).
AK Cream Tea
If you enjoy scones with jam and cream and chatting too, do come along to Holy Cross church, North End, Ashton Keynes and enjoy a Cream Tea on Thursday 25 September (2.30 – 4pm) and sing a few of your favourite hymns too. It’s open to anyone and do bring others. Donations (after costs) for our local Foodbank.
